Majlis Perbandaran Bentong was established with effect bil.147/5/5/1995 Gazette. District of Bentong located in the western part of the State of Pahang. It is the gateway to the States East Coast by land and is bordered by the State of Selangor in the west and Negeri Sembilan in the south. The establishment of Bentong Municipal Council on 1 July 1981 was based on Local Government Act (Act 171). It was one upgrading level from Municipal Council to District Council with unification of Bentong District Council together with 5 Local Councils and several other areas.
